Theresa’s Bio:
I have been a single mother for 25 years, raised 3 boys who are (happily) self sufficient; they are my biggest success, and still my #1 priority, and a grandmother of 10 months-what a joy!

I have taught art for 35 years at both the high school and middle school levels, and LOVED it to my last day. My students were award winners at city-wide and district shows every year, which was rewarding to me. I miss the art of teaching and my students and hope to return to teaching in the near future. My largest accomplishment was when my students art was displayed for a United Nations meeting; it was later shown in photos in their brochures that went all over the world.
I love retirement: have tried to improve my skills at watercolor, and continue that process by taking classes on line as well as in person. My art is a balancer…..if I don’t have my creative time….I am out of balance.
I am also a road cyclist. I love long bike rides. I have completed the Copper Triangle 3X….of ride of 81 miles over three mountain passes.
I have worked as a picture framer for 5 years, which refined my skills and tastes in framing.

Theresa’s Awards:
I’m still trying!

Theresa’s favorite things to paint:
I love painting rusted metals, glass reflections, water, and making mosaics.
Theresa’s favorite or most admired artists:
John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, and Blanca Alvarez
Theresa’s goals for the next year:
I would like to master plein air techniques, work on portraits, digitizing my artwork, continuing classes, and creating a website.

Theresa’s Watercolor Tip:
Before opening a tube of paint at our altitude, freeze the tube for a minimum of an hour. This will avoid the tube from spilling out uncontrollably and wasting paint.

FAVORITE ARTSY QUOTE
“I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say ‘he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.”
