MargaretsMarMargaret’s Bio:

I grew up in Houston, TX then lived in eastern US until 2006 with a move to Colorado. My first artwork was making animals out of the clay soil, known as “black gumbo” in our backyard.
My college education was mainly in the sciences: zoology, botany, and chemistry, with post-grad. in medical technology, which was my work when I was not home raising 3 kids. My art training was squeezed in now and then.
I like sketching and painting outdoors, sketching in the passenger seat on a road trip, and joining the Wednesday morning Portrait Group at the Senior Center on N. Hancock St. I enjoy the challenge of portraiture and recommend this group.
I’ve been married 54 years to my husband, Fred, a retired pediatrician, have 3 kids, 5 grandchildren, and I like skiing, hiking, bicycling, and traveling here in the West, along with flower gardening.
When I get ready to paint, I tell myself: “Organize your materials, then, jump in, and devil take the hindmost!”

Margaret’s favorite things to paint:l

Landscapes, portraits, shapes.

FAVORITE ARTSY QUOTE

“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.”
– Pablo Picasso

Margaret’s Tip or Trick:

• Don’t overwork the painting.
• Make a sketch or two to organize the painting.
• Make a NOTAN to plan the lights and darks.
• Keep a piece of paper handy to test the color before painting with it.
