Lou Ann’s Bio:

Originally from Iowa, I received my bachelor’s degree in applied art and design from Iowa State University. After some years of living and traveling with my family in South America and Europe I moved to Colorado Springs where I furthered my art education by participating in workshops with several nationally known artists and studied extensively with Mary Ann Bransby, the founder of PPWS.

Lou Ann’s Awards:

Best of Show in CWS People Places and Things in 2022 as well as several honorable mentions in CWS shows. I also received a best of show award in a show during a Doug Walton workshop.

Lou Ann’s favorite things to paint:

Though I paint many different subjects, my favorite ones usually involve a depiction of water such as mountain streams, oceans or Koi ponds. They are so natural to the medium with its movement of colors. I also work in acrylic as well as watercolor.

Lou Ann’s favorite or most admired artists:

The watercolorists Cheng Kee Chee, Nita Ingalls, and Doug Walton and the masters Cezanne, Matisse and Gauguin.

Lou Ann’s goals for the next year:

I plan to experiment more with the properties of Yupo paper using acrylic and mixed media.
