Kathleen’s Bio:

Kathleen moved to Woodland Park 3 years ago from Texas. She joined the Mountain Artists Group and some members told her she should also join PPWS, which led her to us!

She is a watercolor and acrylic artist known for my colorful landscapes and seascapes inspired by the beauty of the natural world. Kathleen began her career as a high school and college art teacher, then as a college administrator and finally a book cover illustrator and professional artist. She began painting scenes from the Pacific Northwest and the Colorado Rockies while living in Seattle and now in Woodland Park, CO.

Kathleen’s favorite things to paint:

I love to paint colorful landscapes and seascapes with  brilliant sky’s, dramatic oceans and majestic mountains. I mainly work in watercolor and acrylic using different textured mediums and materials for a three-dimensional look.

Kathleen’s favorite or most admired artists:

Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe and Jackson Pollock.

Kathleen’s goals for the next year:

I want to work on larger pieces in a more abstract style using different textures and mediums.

Kathleen’s Watercolor Tip or Trick:

When painting with watercolors try adding Gouache and acrylic highlights for a more dramatic 3-D look.
