Jennifer’s Bio:
I have always been one of those people that has to make things. I remember when I was a kid making hot pan holders, macaroni pictures, and flowers with fabric and pipe cleaners. This creative energy has transferred to pottery, watercolor and wood burning. I love the immediacy of these mediums, the physical nature of the work, and the mind-body connection.

I studied art at Bowling Green State University with emphasis in pottery, photography and jewelry. After graduating with honors, I moved to Colorado Springs in 1990 and immediately became involved in the art community, establishing my first art studio at the Manitou Art Center, then called the Business of Art Center. I have participated in countless art fairs, farmers’ markets, and juried shows. Most recently I have joined the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and the Pikes Peak Whittlers Club. Art is too exciting to be limited to one medium. I prefer to explore all the art world has to offer in my artistic journey.

Jennifer’s favorite things to paint:l
I focus a lot of my compositions on pathways and biking along our local Colorado Springs trails. I like how the trails are a metaphor for exploring life, both as a journey and a destination. The fluidity and random movement that watercolor provides is a perfect match that same quality in life.
I also enjoy taking pictures of bugs and flowers in my garden. Save the bees!

Jennifer’s Awards:
I most recently won 1st place at the Colorado State Fair for a sgraffito pottery plate.

Jennifer’s most admired artists:
Andre Kertesz, Charlie Harper, Alexander Calder
Jennifer’s goals for the next year:
To continue combining pyrography and watercolor and see where that leads me.

FAVORITE ARTSY QUOTE
“It ain’t brain surgery.”
A quote from my favorite professor, while in my first semester of college as an art major.

Jennifer’s Tip or Trick:
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
