Colt’s Bio:
As a native of Colorado Springs and coming from a family of artists, I have always been drawn to art related to mountains and wildlife. As a child I was an avid artist, feverishly sketching and illustrating. However, as I got older and life got busier, I set it aside and have only recently returned – thanks to my elder brother’s prompting. My comfort with sketching and illustration have laid the foundation for my approach to watercolor.

Colts’s favorite things to paint:
Mountains and Animals. Cole also enjoys working with pen and ink.
Colt’s favorite or most admired artists:
John Singer Sargent, Birger Sandzen, James Gurney, Burt Silverman, and Howard Pyle
Colt’s goals for the next year:
I’ve never showcased my art work, so I would like I would like to enter a piece in a show.

Colt’s Tip or Trick:
Don’t lose the joy of art. The refrain “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”, hinges upon our ability to personally find joy in your art. It is easy to complicate the process, strive for perfection, and strain for ideal materials… yet, some of my favorite pieces have been the result of capturing an image that may never be marketable, but that means something to me – completed with second hand brushes and paints on bargain-bin paper.
