Jin’s Bio:

I was born in China, worked and raised family in New Zealand, and now live in Colorado Springs with my husband. Life lived on three continents has been a privilege and an enriching journey. I have a science degree and worked in R&D contract management. It wasn’t until I moved to Colorado Springs that I decided to unleash the artist inside me. For the past few years, I have enjoyed experimenting with various art media and techniques, with a focus on painting and printmaking. I am drawn to semi-abstract art because it allows me freedom for creative expression, and still makes me feel deeply connected to the nature around me through my artwork.
Jin’s Awards:
One of my most recent works was selected for Art at COS and currently exhibited at the Colorado Springs Airport.

Jin’s favorite things to paint:

Semi-abstract landscapes.

Besides watercolors, Jin also works in acrylic, gel-plates and woodcuts.

Jin’s favorite or most admired artists:

Marc Chagall, Georgia O’Keeffe, and New Zealand painter Don Binney.

FAVORITE ARTSY QUOTE

“Great art picks up where nature ends”
– Marc Chagall

Jin’s goals for the next year:

Jin’s goal for 2026 is to work on three series she started in late 2025 to build a body of work.

Francie’s Tip or Trick:

Even when I feel rushed, even painting outdoors, I’ve found that making a thumbnail sketch at the beginning makes everything go smoother.
